Christian Media & Arts Australia (CMAA for short) is an industry body representing Christians in the media and arts space. Their mission is to facilitate the spread of the gospel message by empowering and connecting their members—primarily radio stations and other media organisations.

Each year, one of CMAA’s primary activities is CONNECT conference, a national gathering of leaders in the media and arts space. On the cusp of a new decade, the 2020 conference theme is ‘Renaissance’, reflecting the rapid change and growth in our society. Caffeine Powered Creative was commissioned to develop a brand identity and website design for this conference, as well as supporting items of collateral.

In keeping with their core message of ‘old and new’, we devised a brand system which repurposed old Renaissance-era art into a modern context. The logo contrasts a fixed-width, computer font with a typeface designed in the Renaissance era (Garamond). This identity was then crafted into a full website design, which was then passed to their in-house developers to be made into the final product.

“Chris gets it. He not only understood what we were seeking to achieve on a strategic and visionary level, but also understands the practical outworking of design and brand within the design. Having worked with many designers through the years – one aspect that pleasantly surprised me was the understanding of website coding and designing with code in mind. This made it very efficient for our website team to construct our sites quickly and efficiently.”
— Nathan Brown, CEO, CMAA
